Plug-In Auto Dealerships

It may seem like a long time coming, but LAcarGuy had a launch to celebrate its status as the first automobile dealer in the U.S. to have ‘Level 2’ electric car charging stations. The stations can be used on hybrid or plug-in vehicles.

Be sure to keep your eye on Mike Sullivan, the founder of LAcarGuy, as he’s clearly leading the pack in North America’s environmental-friendly car industry. Take a look at the gallery to view photographs from the launch event.

Dinosaur-Themed Malls

Located in a suburb of Czech Republic’s Prague is the Galerie Harfa, a mega mall which brings dinosaurs into the shopping experience.

There’s even a park on the roof filled with life-sized replicas of daunting dinosaurs, ensuring an exciting visit. Galerie Harfa is making a deliberate attempt to have an edge over other malls
, offering more than the typical stores and boutiques to up its popularity.

iPad Menus

The South Gate restaurant is the first establishment in New York City to replace their wine lists with an iPad. The modern Central Park restaurant has over 650 wines, which makes the iPad an appropriate navigation tool for such an extensive list.

The South Gate restaurant’s iPad will be able document new arrivals to the list and update when certain bottles are sold out. Will the sommelier become old school, since the iPad is able to hold more information than humanly possible?

Social Media Shopping

You can now take your shopping experience to the next level as Facebook and Amazon team up to provide purchase recommendations for users of the social network
.

Using Facebook Connect, users can now opt into this Amazon feature and get ideas on what to get friends as gifts based on the information featured on their profiles. You can then use these suggestions and make purchases through the site. This is definitely a convenient way to find last-minute gifts without having to take a trip to the mall!

Stress-Relief Stores

If you are a stressed-out woman living in Shenyang, China, you might want to consider a visit to the women only “venting store.” This store is located in a local mall and provides women one minute each to smash and break whatever they want.

The mall offers a voucher to the women only venting store if the customer spends a certain amount of money in the mall. Each customer is provided with a motorcycle helmet and a one-minute time limit to smash to their heart’s content.

I like this idea a lot. Letting people take their anger out on inanimate objects is way better than having them take it out on people.

Internet Martini Bars

MiWorld in South Africa is the epitome of advances in online/offline technology. The series of two (soon to be three) bars and restaurants offer both online and human interaction by giving customers touchscreens so they can register the type of interaction they’re in the mood for.

The “Mi” part of MiWorld in South Africa stands for “meaningful interaction,” according to the MiWorld website. This MiWorld idea seems like a pretty innovative concept, but I have issues with technology invading the strictly human world. To me, it’s just weird.

Interactive Shopping Bags

Prompt Design from Thailand has designed an artistic and innovative shopping bag for Kokoa Hut that encourages customer interaction.

Each Kokoa Hut shopping bag is created with little square boxes that can be flipped up to create an image. By allowing the customer to essentially interact and play with his or her shopping bag, Kokoa now has a unique branding technique that could boost customer experience.

Check out the gallery to see some of the images customers can create with the Kokoa Hut shopping bag.
